Hidden hosting costs: what a web hosting plan costs beyond the first price
Updated on ยท 6 questions answered
The hidden costs of web hosting are the renewal price, the upfront bill for the whole period, the domain after its free year and the add-ons offered in the cart. None of them is part of the headline price per month.
Which costs are not in the advertised price?
These are the costs we saw in the Hostinger cart on 13 October 2026, using the Unlimited plan as the example.
How much is the renewal price?
The Unlimited plan renews at $16.99 a month. The first price is $3.19 a month. The cart prints the renewal price in one line under the plan name. The guide hosting renewal prices explained has the renewal price of each plan.
Why is the bill today higher than the price per month?
The hosting company bills the whole period upfront. The price per month is the total divided by the number of months. $3.19 a month for 48 months is one payment of $153.22.
Is the free domain free for the whole plan?
No. The domain is free for the first 12 months. A plan can run for 24 or 48 months, so the domain has to be paid for from the second year.
Which add-ons does the cart offer?
The Hostinger cart offered 3 paid add-ons next to the plan. Each one is optional. Check the order summary before you pay and remove any add-on you did not choose.
| Add-on | Shown with |
|---|---|
| Hostinger Ecommerce | Website plans |
| Hostinger Reach email marketing | Website plans |
| Daily auto-backup | VPS plans |
How do I see the full cost before I pay?
- Open the cart and choose the period.
- Read the total in the order summary, not the price per month.
- Read the line that starts with "Renews after". It gives the renewal price.
- Check that the order summary lists only the plan and the items you chose.
- Apply your coupon code and check the total again.
The Hostinger pricing page shows the total today, the renewal price and the 4-year cost of each plan.
